Lassana Bamba, Crystal, Minn. – The search team looking for 10-year old Barway Collins yesterday found the body of a child around North Mississippi Regional Park. The body which was found 20 feet from the river has been taken to the Hennepin County medical examiner for identification.
Although police are not giving any specifics relating to the discovery, but some community members are speculating that it is indeed the remains of 10-year-old Barway Collins.
Speaking yesterday during a press conference at the Cedarwood Apartment in Crystal, Minnesota, Pastor Alexander Collins of the Liberian Ministerial Association prayed for the parents of the child whose body was found. Pastor Collins assured the audience that the search for Barway will continue. The LMA Executive Director also prayed that Barway will be found alive.
Also speaking at the news conference was the Minnesota Missing Person Advocate, Shelia Smith, who called on the public to reserve prejudices and accusatory fingers until the medical examiner identifies the body.
For his part, police Commissioner Singleton said, despite the discovery of the body, investigation into the disappearance of 10-year-old Barway Collins is still classified as search and rescue efforts.
In a related development, there has been police activities at the home of the Collins. It is not clear what police are doing at the home, but there are reports that their presence is meant to provide security to the family.
Barway Collins has been missing for nearly 25 days, but with the discovery of a child’s body near the North Mississippi Regional Park area, hopes of finding the missing 10-year-old seem to be fading gradually. Barway was last seen on March 18, 2015, at the Cedarwood Apartment complex at 5450 Douglas Dr. North in Crystal, Minn.
