MATEX’s fundraising event postponed, as community monitors Duncan’s recovery in TX

In consultation with the executive leadership and the elders of the community, the Mandingo Association of Texas has postponed its Ebola fundraising party until further notice.

The postponement of the event which was slated for the weekend in Dallas, Texas comes in the wake of the recent discovery of Ebola in that area.Mr. Isiaka Sidibay

The latest Ebola patient in Dallas, Thomas Eric Duncan who arrived from Liberia was admitted at the Presbyterian Hospital on Monday. 

MATEX’s President, Isiaka Sidibay, said as they continue to monitor the on-going discovery of Ebola in Dallas and a possible second case, where 80 individuals, mostly West Africans, are carefully being monitored, they cannot hold any gathering that has the propensity to jeopardize their main objective of eradicating this deadly disease.

In an email communication to Bamba 1 News, Mr. Sidibay said, as a community comprising of members of the Mano River Union sub-region, they need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder to eradicate this Ebola.

He also disclosed that the postponement is not intended to stir panic among community members, but rather to help the larger society. “It is incumbent upon all of us texans to monitor this sad news carefully and bring it to an end.”
