“I am completely taken by surprise” 2013 Jefferson Awards winner speaks

An ARAMARK employee, Jennifer Bingham-May has won the 2013 Jefferson Awards for Public Service of Excellence.

The prestigious certificate is awarded to citizens who devote times and efforts to outstanding community services that continue to impact the lives of others.

According to those who signed the certificate, including some senior officials of the United States government, Jennifer Bingham-May met the expectations set forth to attain the price.

The signatories to the certificate, including U.S. government officials are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, Teresa Heinz Kerry, Michael Douglas, Sam Beard, U.S. Senator Harry Reid, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and Woppi Goldberg.

The Co-Founders of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service of Excellence are Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard.

In a letter dated July 1, 2013, ARAMARK’s Chief Executive Officer and President, Eric Foss, expressed thanks and appreciations to Jennifer Bingham-May for being the 2013 ARAMARK outstanding volunteer and at the same time a recipient of an honorable mentioned from the Jefferson Awards for Public Service.

The letter encouraged ARAMARK employees to consider what they can do to deliver an enriching and nourishing impact on the lives of people everywhere.

The ARAMARK CEO/President said ARAMARK employee’s dedication and compassion for communities where they live and work bring values to life. Still thanking Jennifer, he said, “I am extremely proud of your accomplishments. Thank you for your leadership and commitment to ARAMARK.”  (Foss)

Jennifer Bingham-May is ARAMARK’s current Human Resources Manager at 3M’s world headquarters situated in Maplewood, Minnesota; she has served in this post since June 2006.

Prior to this, Ms. Bingham-May served in many capacities, she was a student advisor at the John F. Kennedy Bloomington High School in Bloomington, Minnesota as well as Operations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at Alberta Bair Theater respectively.

In an interview with Bamba1News on Friday July 12, 2013, Ms. Bingham-May expressed thanks and appreciations to the Jefferson Awards for Public Service of Excellence committee for her preferment. She said, “I am completely taken by surprise to have been nominated.”
