Crystal, Minnesota- A four man hearing committee in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota has nullified both the August 30th and Sunday election of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Liberian Mandingo Associations in the USA.
According to Imam Mohamed Dukuly, both elections are not in the interest of the larger Mandingo community. He acknowledged that the Board of Directors has more weight than the administration of FELMAUSA, but a compromise had to be reached in order to foster unity.
The decision was reached following three hours of deliberations by Cllr. Kabenih J’annah of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia, Sekou Korleh, Chairman of the Mandingo Caucus of Liberia, Musa Keita of Canada, and Imam Mohamed Dukuly of Masjid Al Nur of Minneapolis.
According to Ansu Keita, soccer captain of The Minnesota Mandingo Association, “We should be rejoicing not sad, those guys didn’t expect this change to take place today, the two board is out, now let us prepare someone to go on the board” (Keita) His statement came as a response to another Minnesotan who was sad upon hearing the news.
Some community dwellers view this compromise as a soft, but powerful political slap in the faces both the Bility led administration and the Konneh led Board whose continue political wrestling has engulfed the single largest Mandingo organization into complete turmoil that nearly brought it to its knees.
