The West African state of Liberia on July 26, 2013 celebrated its 166th independence and nearly four hundred Liberians residing in Minnesota showed up in Brooklyn Park to honor this special day. The program which was organized by the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota, OLM, brought together peoples of different races including government officials, city officials of Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center among others; it was graced by cultural dances, speeches and a small protest from diaspora Liberians whose aim is to denounce corruption in the oldest republic in Africa.
